Systematic design of biomaterials for tissue engineering and drug delivery

Biomaterials are a key for tissue engineering and drug delivery. In addition, we think that it is important to understand biomaterials as the system where materials and cells interact with each other, and to combine biomaterials with system engineering which design the time course and spatial distribution of systems. Based on synthesis of materials, biology, and modeling technique, we try to make a new approach to biomedical engineering.

  • Development of novel supramolecular chemical membranes to control drug permeation by a molecular signal
  • Development of biocompatible in situ crosslinked hydrogels and photo-crosslinkable hydrogels
  • Development of new biomaterials for peritoneal diseases
  • Three dimensional chemical engineering simulation inside hydrogels
